About Culver City

Culver City is an independent city of roughly 41,000 wedged into LA's Westside — its own municipality, its own police force, and crucially its own school district. Founded by Harry Culver in 1917, it grew up around movie lots: Sony Pictures still headquarters on the historic MGM lot on Washington Boulevard, Amazon MGM Studios anchors the Culver Studios and Culver Steps downtown, and Apple's 536,000-square-foot Culver Crossing office-and-production campus is slated to open in 2026. The once-sleepy downtown has become one of the Westside's most walkable cores — the 1924 Culver Hotel, the Kirk Douglas Theatre, Platform, and the Helms Bakery District, with the Metro E Line linking it to downtown LA and Santa Monica.
