Studio City sits in the southeast San Fernando Valley, just west of the Cahuenga Pass, where the Los Angeles River and Tujunga Wash meet near Colfax Avenue. The neighborhood takes its name from the movie lot Mack Sennett opened here in 1927 — today's Radford Studio Center — and the entertainment business still anchors daily life along Ventura Boulevard, home to the famous mile of sushi restaurants flanking Laurel Canyon. Housing splits into two markets: flats north of the Boulevard with traditional and ranch homes on tree-lined streets in pockets like Colfax Meadows and the Silver Triangle, and winding hillside streets to the south climbing into the Santa Monica Mountains, plus condo corridors along Ventura and Laurel Canyon. Buyers come for the short hop over the hill to Hollywood and Burbank studios, a walkable Boulevard, canyon trailheads inside the neighborhood, and one of LAUSD's most sought-after charter elementaries.

Residences at Sportsmen’s Lodge (target 2027) — the City Council approved replacing the old hotel with 520 apartments (78 very-low-income) and ~46,000 sq ft of shops beside the Erewhon-anchored Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge. The biggest injection of housing and walkable retail Studio City has seen in decades, concentrated at the western gateway.

Harvard-Westlake River Park (opening fall 2026) — the former Weddington Golf & Tennis site is becoming a 16-acre athletic campus with publicly accessible paths and green space along the LA River, removing years of redevelopment uncertainty from the Colfax Meadows edge.

Radford Studio Center $1B modernization — a Specific Plan for up to 2.2M sq ft of soundstages and production space on the 55-acre lot is in entitlement, a generational bet on production staying in Studio City that supports long-term industry-buyer demand.
