About Silver Lake

Silver Lake wraps around its namesake reservoir complex — roughly 127 acres of open water and green space ringed by steep, stair-laced hills between Echo Park and Los Feliz. The geography does a lot of the selling: winding streets climb to view lots, and a 2.2-mile paved loop path circles the water below. The housing stock is one of LA's most architecturally interesting mixes — 1920s Spanish and storybook cottages, postwar midcentury homes, and a genuine concentration of modernist pedigree, including Richard Neutra's VDL Studio and Residences, a National Historic Landmark that still opens for Saturday tours. Down the hill, the Sunset Boulevard corridor through Sunset Junction supplies the neighborhood's daily life: coffee, twice-weekly farmers markets, and a restaurant row that draws diners from across the city. Buyers come for that combination — walkable-village energy, reservoir-adjacent green space, and character homes with views — rarely found together elsewhere in Los Angeles.

What's Coming & What to Watch

Silver Lake Reservoir Complex Master Plan — approved with a certified EIR in 2023: 116 of 127 acres redesigned as a public park linked by a 2.5-mile promenade. No construction timeline is set (grant-funded, phased over 5+ years), so reservoir-ring homes carry long-term park-adjacency upside without near-term disruption.

Sunset corridor apartments delivering — 74 units at 3004 Sunset opened, 104 units at 3313 Sunset are under construction, and a 121-unit project at 2511 Sunset survived appeal: the first meaningful new supply on the corridor in years, plus fresh ground-floor retail reinforcing the walkable-strip premium.
